A simulation-based optimization approach for designing transit networks

Abstract Public transport network design deals with finding efficient solution(s) from a set of alternatives that best satisfies the often-conflicting objectives stakeholders like passengers and operators. This work presents simulation-based optimization (SBO) model for designing public networks. The work’s novelty is in developing such fully accounts stochastic behavior commuters on transit network. SBO discipline solves decision-based problems problem (TNDP) by combining simulation models. proposed integrates disaggregated activity-based travel demand multi-objective algorithm. Trip-based models are commonly used to represent traveler literature. approach limits its ability accommodate realities solution.
